I have always found this last week of the year to be particularly exhilarating–and important. She does a great job of describing why while motivating me to stretch it even farther. I think I’ll start with a quick set of runs across the length of the new ‘ice rink’ and then re-read Cynthia’s excellent little tome, Creative Toolkit for the Traveler while I fret about procrastination-delayed passport renewals.

In 2009, through creative exploration and expression, there will be unmatched Joy.

Beyond Papa-razzo

For a month or so now, i’ve been ramping back up with my picture-taking habits. Motivated on several fronts, I’m expecting this trend to continue. Today, another butt-kick of inspiration comes from one of my favorite new-media creatives: Merlin Mann. Photography, and the Tolerance for Courageous Sucking

I’ve started another small web sandbox for this adventure. Too rough to disclose at this point. It will be where I’ll photo-document my image capture experiences at home and around the world. Starting, hopefully, next spring for what will hopefully be an annual fine art photography workshop just outside of Rome. Hoping soon to add Osaka, Dubai and eastern Brasil to the travel mix.

Right now, someone from Sydney, Australia and someone else from Djakarta (Jarkarta), Indonesia is visiting my surprisingly popular amalgamation of WFP/Silverlight/Mapping resources. Everyday I see visitors from around the world coming primarily to this page. I would like to learn more about you! What are you doing with mapping, WPF and XAML?

In a couple weeks I will be presenting on the topic “Exploring Trends in Data Visualization” at the annual conference of the International Association of Assessing Officers in Reno. At this talk, I’m showing many rich examples of dynamic data visualization using Flash, Flex, AJAX, Silverlight, WPF and … and Powerpoint.
