Hypnagogic morning
It has been three weeks since I returned from the MIX08 trip where I had the misfortune of acquiring the most malicious flu bug ever. Still fighting the aftereffects, I take every opportunity to sleep in on weekends. Somewhere toward the 10th hour of heavenly sleep this morning I experienced a richly rendered virtual-reality-like hypnagogic experience.

Zune as foolscap
My Zune has become, in no small way, my pre-Singularity foolscap. Through it, I am enjoying a personal renaissance in my thirst for diverse learning. Many (esp. my sons) would think it strange that I rarely use my Zune for music. I’m sure I would if I had more music listening time in my day. What [...]

RealWare V5 unveiled at GIS/CAMA 2008
Just returned from the annual GIS/CAMA Conference in New Orleans where I was a speaker and my company, CCI, was an exhibitor. CCI launched what is now the industry’s most advanced Computer Aided Mass Assesment (CAMA) solution, RealWare V5, which I first alluded to last December. It’s my first time at this conference and this [...]

Long Pond Ice Peel 2008
Two day’s back, it happened. Some years it’s mearly a casual breakup of lazy floating ice islands; other years it is a seismic event creating a fantastic multimedia show (and a wild ride, if you dare). This year, Long Pond’s annual ice peel was somewhere in the middle.
