Five Years ’till Doomsday

According to the Mayan Calendar,worldcal2.jpg 5 years from today, time is undefined. It has ended.

As a child, I remember being fascinated with little circular-sliderule type perpetual calendars. These little marvels would allow you to construct the current calendar month. They typically had a useful range of several decades. This one is good until 2046.

The Maya Calendar is probably the most elaborate perpetual calendar ever invented by man. It happens to have a useful range ending 5 years from today. Many are infusing this “event” with apocalyptic and sometimes amuzingly detailed end-of-world scenarios.

I’m expecting we’ll see a huge skewed (dieing off much faster than it is currently rising) bell-shaped trend curve, similar to the very short one observed surrounding the recent Blog Action Day.

We skeptics can be a bit of a bore.
